Please, allow me to introduce myself.

I am Stephanie Engola, a freelance translator in Cameroon born in Germany. I came across your emails because I was looking for some information on NARDINA ALONGI (I guess this name reminds you of a sad experience). I worked for her for more than three months and she now refuses to pay me. I must confess, the lady has never given a sign of dishonesty from the minute she contacted me and she took advantage of it to abuse me.

What makes me to write to you today is not so much the fact that she owes me, but the fact that she is getting rich on the back of honest of hardworking people all around the world. As I am writing to you, she is probably abusing some other translators online. This is as true as she (and her friends Anna and Peter) has (have) created another translation website (linguapoly) to multiply their chances to get new and old victims AGAIN!!!!

I have contacted an attorney in Munich who is willing to help stopping this cybercriminality network which is expanding every day. I just need your permission to mention you in the file I will compile to make sure all the people who have been abused are paid once for good.

I would be happy to hear from you. I also remain available for any information you may request within the framework of this issue.

For those of you who have been following my communications with Nardina Alongi, my debt collecion agency has informed me on Friday that Ms Alongi is not willing to pay even in the smallest of installments the money owed to me. The view of my lawyer is that - having done his research - Ms Nardina Alongi and Greelandic Translations have major final problems and that she realised before commissioning the work to me that she would not be in a position to pay. This under German law constitutes fraud and the followign letter has been prepared for the Public Prosecutor in Muncih which I will send on Monday with the accompanying proof.


I woudl encourage all other freelancers who have been scammed by Nardina Alongi to contact me should they wish to pursue the same path.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

durch die vorgenannte Person wurden bei uns Leistungen im Wert von 1.095,55 EUR in Anspruch genommen. Durch entsprechende Rechtsverfolgungskosten liegt unser Schaden sogar noch erheblich höher ( 1.317,37 EUR ).

Die Leistungen sind unbestritten.

Im Nachhinein stellt sich nunmehr heraus, dass diese Person bereits bei Inanspruchnahme der Leistungen über erhebliche finanzielle Probleme verfügte und hätte wissen müssen, dass sie die Rechnungsbeträge nicht begleichen kann. Dies rechtfertigt in unseren Augen den Verdacht des Betruges.

Gleichzeitig hat der in Deutschland eingeschaltete Inkassodienstleister der Person mehrfach Ratenzahlung sowie Stundung angeboten und sogar Vergleichsbereitschaft signalisiert. Leider ohne jeglichen Erfolg, nicht einmal Kleinstraten, die jedem möglich sein müssten. Wir müssen daher davon ausgehen, dass die Person nicht nur nicht zahlen kann, sondern sogar nicht zahlen will. Dies rechtfertigt erst recht den Verdacht des Betruges.

Sad but true - avoid contact with Nardina Alongi and Greenlandic Translations - previous Globale Kommunikation

We as freelance translators are permanently exposed to the risk of being burned by such agencies as Nardina Alongi's greenlandic translations. At the end of the day of you are a freelancer applying for the first time to work with an agency you are trustful rather than suspicious. A few words of advice to newbies to the freelance translation business:

(1) Join Proz.com - this is a site trusted by all freelancers and check out their blacklisted companies - including, by the way, Nardina Alongi
(2) Ask for an advance payment on the work if you are working for them for the first time - this will quickly show how trustful they are.
(3) Avoid the "bottom of the bucket sites" such as greelandic translations which offer a top price of 0.04 Euro cents per word for highly technical translations. Their only way to survive is to try and offer low prices to the agencies and clients they are working for.

As far as I can detect Nardina Alongi's list of direct clients has dried up - unsurprisingly and she is now increasingly dependent on large agencies such as thebigword or others to get work. This means they are the midle-middle men taking their cut after the previous agency up the line has taken its - little is left at the end of the chain for the poor freelancer.

Report any abise to Proz.com as you are doing others a favour and the more people who reports unprofessional business people such as Nardina Alongi the better. If you work for htem you are wasting your time. You will NEVER see the money you are owed. They live as one says from hand to mouth and have no financial cushion when clients delay payment.

Well first of all I hope Ms Nardina Alongi is better at translating that using an iPad - it is scarcely legible - but nothign surprising about that.

I translated a book for Globale KommunikationGreenlandic translation or whatever they call themselves now and after several weeks I received the following from her:

"leider mussten wir feststellen, dass bei der Übersetzung des Buches „Auf dem Highway ins Paradies“ absolut nicht sorgfältige gearbeitet wurde.

Wir haben den Text zur Durchsicht an den Autor übermittelt und er ist verständlicherweise sehr verärgert, da sich einige Fehler im Text befinden.

Die entsprechenden Textstellen wurden vom Autor rot markiert. Der Text wurde vom Autor nur überfolgen und es befinden sich wahrscheinlich noch mehrere fehlerhafte Stellen im Text. Mir ist z.B. auf Seite 52 aufgefallen, dass sich noch deutscher Text befindet. Wie kann das sein? Weiters wurde am Ende nicht alles übersetzt."

When I checked the overall translation I fouond a total of 7 mistakes in English - OK. But when I was told by Nardina Alongi she would have to cut Euro 600 for proofreading again, I was horrified - by the way Page 52 was a Bibliography - even monkeys know one does nto translated untranslated titles.

Again just another example of how Greenlandic Translations treates its freelancers - Nardina Alongi should be banned for her activities - freelance translators unite!

From the research I have done on the Internet and my personalo experience, Nardina Alongi should be avoided at all costs as a source of freelance translation work. WHY?

(a) In general the work is more than porrly paid  3 to 4 cents per word at best
(b) The deadlines are impossible to keep - up to 25K words in 3 days - technical translations
(c) When it comes to paying the invoice, Nardina Alongi knows every trick in the book to get out of it.

Her former company, it seems, Globale Kommunikation went bankrupt in 2013. She then simply set up another webiste with another name - lingopoly or greenlandic translations and continued to rip off translators. This woman will bombard you with translations - not being a translator herself she seems to have no idea that there is a difference between doing 3 thousand or 30 thouosand words per day. Believe it or not she simply does not seem to get her ahead around the fact that translation takes time.

Secondly, although she maintains the opposite, there is no quality control of the work submitted - not that there would be time for it anyway as everything is a panic, chaotic last minute job to get the work done. She has no reviewers in house and is not capable of reviewing the work herself. She relies on quantity and not quallity to get money. Naturally this is a recipe for suicide as a translation company. Eventually the clients start to moan and then Nardina Alongi can get very nasty with the pooor freelancer. She uses the carrot and stick approach. When all is well plenty of praise and even more work - sometime three projects at the same time for the same day - but when things go wrong she is extremely unpleasant.  Invoices, emails everything is ignored. Then off she goes to find more freelancers who will fall into the trap. I have known her company for many years and it is very strange that she has no team even for common European languages like German to English or French to English.

If you wish to take a look on google about criticism of her policies you will have no trouble finding plenty of examples.

So my advise - do not touch the company and stay well away from Nardina Alongi otherwise you will join a huge number of freelance translators who have lived to regret the day they had anything to do with her.
